May Recap

As the month of May draws to a close I wanted to share a bit about what I’ve been focused on these past few weeks. This post includes where I’ve been reading in the Bible, exciting things that happened, what books I’m reading, and more :) Bible Study I have been reading through the book of 1 Peter lately. If I had to pick one verse to summarize the theme of this book it would have to be 1 Peter 4:19 which says, “ Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. ” I really love the idea of entrusting our souls to the Lord. It’s so easy to become focused on the temporal things, and to worry about small issues when ultimately we can cast our cares on the Lord and be content and at peace, fully trusting in Him. I have also been enjoying reading a Psalm each night before I go to bed as it gives good closure to my day and helps me to refocus on the Lord before falling asleep. Exciting Things That Happened In May -Trying the...

Summer Goal Setting - Luke 2:52

With summer fast approaching, I wanted to share an idea that I heard about summer goal setting. The idea is based off of Luke 2:52 which says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” Summer calendars tend to fill up very quickly, often with very good things, but sometimes not the best things. In this post I’ll be sharing four ideas for seeking to live out this verse over the coming summer. In Wisdom.   Proverbs 8, James 1:5, Ecclesiastes 7:12 To grow in wisdom is to also grow in knowledge. Wisdom is applied knowledge. Some ideas for growth in this area are choosing some books to read, taking a class, mentorship meetings, learning a new skill, etc. Our purpose in growing in knowledge and wisdom should be to glorify God more through our thoughts, words, and actions.  In Stature. Ephesians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 1 Timothy 4:7-8 Stature is often defined as physical height, but it could also be considered as physical strength. Fo...

The Heart Behind the Timothy Trail Journal

This blog was named after one of my favorite Bible verses, 2 Timothy 2:22. This verse has been both convicting and encouraging to me as it offers hope and joy but also provides direction for seeking growth and improvement. That being said, I wanted to share my thoughts on the meaning and purpose of this verse :) “So flee youthful passions…”  What are some youthful passions? Really anything that is a sinful desire could be characterised as a youthful passion, whether it’s lust, laziness, anger, disrespect, or even hurry. Youthful passions are referring to the immaturity and foolishness of youth which could also point to spiritual immaturity. Job 12:12 says that “wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days,” which reinforced the idea of younger people tending to be more foolish. How do we “flee” these passions? To flee something we must flee towards something else. But what to flee towards? Look at the next part of this verse.  “...And pursue righteousness, fa...
